"A Passion for Books: the library of Sir John T. Gilbert"By Máire Kennedy
The Central Catholic Library will celebrate Library Ireland Week with this illustrated talk by Dr. Máire Kennedy, Divisional Librarian with Dublin City Libraries in charge of Special Collections (early printed books and manuscripts). Dr. Kennedy is based at Dublin City Library and Archive, Pearse Street. Her many publications include a book based on her Ph.D. thesis entitled French Books in eighteenth-century Ireland (2001) and two chapters in The History of the Irish Book, volume III, The Irish Book in English 1550-1800 (2005). A small exhibition on the life and work of Sir John T. Gilbert will be on view in the library from 5th March. New date! Wednesday, April 18

"150 Years of the Oblates in Ireland"By Fr. Tom McCabeLast year the Oblates celebrated 150 years in Ireland. Their first church was erected in Inchicore by 700 volunteers from the nearby Railway Works, which opened Sunday, June 29th, 1856. Wednesday, May 30
