The Lending Department

The desk in the Lending Department Members of the Central Catholic Library can borrow up to four books, cassette tapes or videos at a time, for up to three weeks, from the Lending Department. This department is situated on the ground floor and offers a wide range of titles on all aspects of Catholic culture, history, traditions, and teaching, as well as titles relating to Catholic fiction, to philosophy and to secular history. Published material is available from every decade of the 20th century and new books are added to the stock each month.

Because our library is primarily a religious library, we offer material for borrowing that is often not available in the more general collections of the public libraries. Our members greatly appreciate the loan collection, whether their interest is in older, more traditional works, or whether they feel concerned with issues affecting today's Church, such as inter-church dialogue, the future of the Catholic Church in Ireland, or contemporary spirituality.

Members of our volunteer team staff the desk in this department, and help is always available as regards using the catalogues, finding a book on the shelves, or making a suggestion for purchase.
