Exploring Dante’s Divine Comedy
May 2 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
“Beyond the utmost bounds of human thought” – Reflections on Dante’s Divine Comedy
with Professor Corinna Salvadori Lonergan (FTCD Emeritus).
In her presentation, Professor Lonergan will explore the background to Dante’s great poem, looking at Dante’s reasons for undertaking this work and the readership he envisaged for it.
A particular focus will be placed on canto 26 of the Inferno, when Dante and his guide Virgil encounter the Homeric figure, Ulysses.
Everyone is welcome. A display of books from the library’s Dante collection will be on view.
